Stop Watching the News and Put an End to TV Terrorism!

– Frank Moffatt –

“And I am sure that I never read any memorable news in a newspaper. If we read of one man robbed, or murdered, or killed by accident, or one house burned, or one vessel wrecked, or one steamboat blown up, or one cow run over on the Western Railroad, or one mad dog killed, or one lot of grasshoppers in the winter, – we need never read of another. One is enough. If you are acquainted with the principle, what do you care for a myriad instances and applications?”

Henry David Thoreau, Walden “1845”

Funny, how America’s greatest philosopher, Henry David Thoreau realized way back when that the news really had no value.

Today the same belief stands the test of time. Sure if you watch the news it makes your life appear better, because there’s no way your life could be that bad. OR COULD IT BE – that you’ll have to answer yourself.

But just take a minute to think about it. What possible good could come from watching an hour of negativity? Or read an hour worth of negativity?

How can you justify wasting all that time, when our time on this planet is so limited?

If you think ISIS creates terror, just think about how the news has impacted your life. How it has altered your thinking, and how fearful you are to do many of the things you would really love to do, like travel to exotic locations, or walk in a park at night and gaze at the stars.

Bottom line the world hasn’t changed for over 6,000 years (that’s the time frame that we’ve kept written records), and the percentage of “Bad” people as far as I can figure out has never climbed above 5%. *Note one simple example below.

The “United States population was 319 million as of July 4, 2014 … There we’re 2.24 million prisoners in the United States as of Dec 31, 2011.” That’s not even 1% and the US has the most prisoner in the world and they are less than 5% of the world’s population. Washington Post

Ok so those numbers don’t even come close to 5%, but we’ll leave it open, and say a few didn’t get caught.

So obviously the news is extremely slanted and the world is hardly as dangerous or bad a place as the news portrays. So if you really want to put an end to terrorism – TURN OFF THE NEWS!
