No Nonsense Fitalk
WELCOME TO NO NONSENSE FITALK
Welcome to No Nonsense Fitalk with Mona. I will be writing articles and keeping you informed on the latest information and news about fitness and wellness especially as it applies to the over fifty age group. Our fifties can indeed be the best time of our lives. However, because of on-coming ailments and limitations, sometimes these can be the most trying of times. I will inform, instill, uplift delight and Monavate you in the many ways that you can make these fifties healthier and happier. After all, you deserve only the best advice and direction in this sometimes crazy fitness information maze.
This is a first in a series of bi-monthly articles from me. I have over 25 years experience as a fitness and wellness educator in Guam and in the mainland U.S. I have been a presenter at numerous military installations in Guam and Hawaii. I am currently teaching The Mona Roberts Fitness and Wellness camps outdoors on my home island of Guam. Most of my clients are women over age 35. My classes are co-ed though, and I’ve had many men graduate from my program over the years. I presently teach a health and wellness class as an adjunct faculty member for the UOG Nursing Department where I focus on the differing needs of college-aged students. My expertise includes experience teaching health care professionals in the New York area on how to devise wellness classes for spouses of migrant farm workers. Further, in 2007 I presented at the Marianas Medical Symposium on Childhood Obesity at the Hyatt Hotel Guam where I highlighted my work in my camps and helped answer the question, “How to beat childhood obesity .†My presentation was so well attended that I was interviewed and featured on the front page of the Pacific Daily News the following day. Pls. see About Mona for my credentials.
I encourage you to comment and ask questions about different topics presented in my column. I further insist that you click on related information links and read more about issues I present. Only then can you fully comprehend and become educated about the many schools of thought about fitness and wellness. I assure you that I only follow and adhere to the most recognized health and nutritional authorities in the United States. These include the Harvard School of Public Health, Nutritional Action Healthletter, Web M.D., and Medscape.com to name a few. I also read and stay current on most of the fitness magazines and books on the market. I will help you better understand the latest fitness and nutrition information being presented at any given time.
I look forward to your clicks in this on-line world and remember, stay Monavated!
