Werner Berger On May 22nd, 2007 at 8.08 am Nepalese-time (10.23 pm Toronto-time, May 21st) Werner Berger realized his dream and stood on top of the world, the summit of Mount Everest (8,851 meters / 29,035 feet). This pinnacle was attained after a climb that began at 9.30 pm the night before, and on the 50th day after flying into the Solo Khumbu (Everest) region. Werner is the oldest North American to have stood atop the summit of Mt. Everest, and the fourth oldest person in the world to have accomplished this feat. Werner is also the oldest North American to have completed the ‘Seven Summits’….the highest point on the seven continents.
