MY UNLUCKY ROAD TRIP

My mind and body was racked from the trip. The affect of hours and hours of driving had finally taken their toll.

 

It was about 10:30 in the morning and the heat of the desert was already intense when I pulled over. I was too tired to drive and it was too hot to sleep.

 

I spotted some shade that was lodged underneath some large boulders piled against one another. I hiked up the hill that led to the pile and left my car there beside the road. I could keep an eye on it from up there while I took a little nappy-pooh, I reasoned.

 

It turned out to be quite comfortable in my little get-away. There was a breeze that blew through the openings around the boulders that helped make the temperature more tolerable. From my position, I could look out over the expanse of the desert floor and see the road shimmer in the heat as it disappeared into the mountains that were miles away.

 

That’s when it happened. When I first heard the noise, I thought it was the wind whistling through a crevice in the rock next to me. I looked out my view window just in time to see a huge white object streaking down from the sky and slamming into the top of my car!

 

When it hit, it shattered into pieces that ricochet onto the road and out into the desert sand. One of the pieces sheared off a tree that stood in its path.

 

I just witnessed a meteorite hit the earth where my car is!

 

I ran down to see what happened and as I got closer I saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks. Right there in front of the car on the road were small pieces of the meteorite and at the base of every piece was a small pool of water!

 

My car was just creamed out by a huge ice cube from outer space!
