CUCUMBERS

Hi everyone! Oh how time flies by, snow is melting, birds singing and Spring is in the air. It’s lovely to be here again and thanks for dropping by. This time we will be talking about Cucumbers. Of course there is no need to introduce you to this amazing veggie, as most that have ever grown a garden are aware of how easy it is to grow but here’s a little info that I think many of you may not know – yet!

1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need daily, in fact Cucumbers are an excellent source of Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, no need for a coffee or a soda packed with caffeine; just grab a Cucumber, as the Vitamin B and carbohydrates will serve as an excellent pick-me-up that can last for hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging after you shower? Try rubbing slice Cucumber on your mirror it will eliminate the fog and provide you with a soothing Spa-like fragrance.

4. Problem’s with slugs and bugs in your garden eating your produce? Problem no-more – place small aluminum pie tin’s with thin slices of Cucumber throughout your garden and the chemical reaction created when the Cucumber reacts with the Aluminum gives off a scent  that is  undetectable to humans but drives garden pest crazy.

These are but a few of the benefits of the amazing Cucumber. For me Cucumbers are a staple in my garden, because I love the taste of a crunchy fresh cucumber.

Thank you for your feedback and comments!

Next time when we will talk about Peppers – so until then keep it growing and keep it green!
